Determined to only get water. Water, water, water. For Javier. It was all he kept talking about. "Cassie... Cassie... Mommy! Mommy! Please... agua...solo quiero agua..." Eyes fluttering open slightly, Cassie moaned. God, she had such a headache! It was difficult to open her eyes, and she could finally detect the smell. Blood. Crusted over her eyes, from a cut in her forehead that was no longer bleeding, but had caused blood to drip down her whole face while she'd been rendered unconscious. Cassandra forced her eyes open, and finally sat up straight - she finally had realized that she'd been completely covering her son, protecting him. From... from...
Memories of what had happened before slapped her hard in the face. They had been sitting down, and Javier had been content, watching a movie on Cassie's iTouch. And then... shaking. Lots of it. And finally, people freaking out, screaming. And the feeling of her stomach dropping. And then that was when she'd pushed the airplane's seat belt to its extent, leaning over to have her whole body cover Javier's. Then, everything had gone black and now she was here.
"Mommy... mommy..." Javier was in hysterics, well, for a six year old. Never, ever, had Cassie seen him crying like this. Even when he got in trouble, he didn't cry like this. He was as well, covered in blood, and Cassie herself held back a sob. What the fuck had happened? "Shh, it's okay. Come on. We have to get out of here." They had been one of the lucky ones - they hadn't been pushed out of their seats by the drop. Unbuckling him carefully, Cassie moaned painfully, to see blood drip from her, and down onto the beautiful white sand. Sand...sand... where the hell were they? She hurt, everywhere, so bad.
Examining Javier, she winced. The damage wasn't collateral bad, but it could have been there. He had a large wound running across the top of his forehead, that definitely needed stitches. His arms were cut and in some places even burned. The side of his head was bleeding profusely, and he was so scared, he could barely stand and Cassie ended up supporting him instead.
The scene around the beach seemed to be from a movie. How could this be so real? Dead bodies... splattered like spray paint. Some people were moving, barely able to get up, and moaning. Crying out loud, for help. No, Cassie wouldn't be like them. She would get help, right now. Be strong, and find out what the hell happened, and how to get help. She stood up finally, only for her eyes to widen in sheer pain as she collapsed back down, staring at her leg in horror. How did she not feel that before, but now it seemed so painful?
Her leg had gotten caught underneath the airplanes seat they were sitting upon. Her leg was bent in an awkward position, more painful than awkward actually. And the metal of the base of the seats were hot, from being thrown into mid air. Gulping down to refrain a scream, she said quickly to Javier, "Go get help."
And with that, she yelled out loudly, "Please! Alguien! Somebody, anybody! Help me! Please! I have a little kid over here! Tengo un nino aqui!" Her cries were desperate.

Ryan had this sense, he could tell when innocents were in trouble. He had been on this island for a day now, and he had an amazing camp, with an amazing girl, but this wasn't about survival of him or Claire, it was about her, and this boy's survival. He ran over to her, he didn't know spanish, but he knew what aqua was. He pulled out a bottle of water that he had with him, and handed it from her.
He looked at her, and her son?, brother? it didn't matter. He opened his mouth to speak and asked, "Are you okay, take a deep breath and tell me your name," he said with a smile. He forced a smile to her, trying to calm her down.

Cassie stared at the boy trying to help her. Her breaths were coming choppier and faster, and she shook her head at his questions. "My leg is caught underneath this seat. I need help." Instead of her taking the bottle, Javier took it gently, taking a quick sip before offering it to his mom, who simply shrugged her shoulders. Right now, it was taking all of Cassie's self control not to scream out in pain from the weight of this chair. "Please... can you just lift it off me?"
Leaning forward, she layed herself in the sand, so that her body was no longer sitting on the chair and he could pull the seat off of her. She would have done it herself... but she couldn't. Not in the position she was.

He looked down and saw the chair. It was a huge chair. He knew it was gonna be tough, but he decided to try anyway. He lifted with great force, and pushed it off of her. He could barely stand, so he sat down next her. "Can you feel your legs?" he asked with general concern for her. He needed to ask her if she wanted to come with him to his camp site.
His campsite was well set up, he had a fire, and he could fish. He wanted them to come live with him and claire. He needed people, but he didn't want to force her to, she had to look out for the boy. He was lucky to find claire, she was beautiful and so helpful, but this girl was beautiful.

It felt ten times infinity better to have the weight of the chair lifted off her leg. Nodding her head, she sat up and faced the boy, examining her leg before offering a slight smile up to him. "Thanks. My name's Cassie. This is my little brother, Javier. What's your name?" Cassie sighed, rubbing at her leg. It felt sprain, but she could tell it wasn't broken - she'd broken her leg in seventh grade, and never forgot what it had felt like. There were a few welts from the heat of the chair, but nothing that would kill her. So she hoped.
Looking at Javier, she motioned for him to turn her way, so that he was not seeing all the people laying on the sand, dead. This could not be happening. No, it couldn't be. Shaking her head, Cassandra looked up to the man who'd helped them. "What happened to the plane? Do you know why we crashed?" She had so many questions, but none that could be answered.
This morning had been simple. Wake up, feed Javier, and then off to the airport to go see his dad. Easy. Nope, obviously not. The big guy up there had plans for them.

"Thanks. My name's Cassie. This is my little brother, Javier. What's your name?"
He didnt know why, but he was relieved to learn that this boy was her brother and not her son. He looked down to her and said, "My name is Ryan, and hello Javier" he didn't know if he could understand him, but he was gonna try anyway.
What happened to the plane? Do you know why we crashed?"
He had asked himself that question many times, and still couldn't think of an answer. He gently answered, "No, I have no Idea, but I do know your gonna need rest, and if you dont have any objections, we should head for my campsite, there aren't any uh....people there" he said making a gesture to the bodies, hoping she would understand.

Once again, Cassie stared at him quizzically. Did he think she couldn't speak English or something? She was speaking to him in the same language, right? "You have a campsite? I guess... I think it would be best for us if we did go back there. Have you found anymore survivors?" Standing up slowly, Cassie wobbled for a minute, in pain, but ignored it. Then she leaned down, holding her hand out to her son so that he could walk with them. She would have carried him but she was afraid she was too weak and would drop him. "Javier, listen, okay? We're going back with this man to his little campsite. And then I can find you some food...and you can sleep." The little boy nodded, his head kept straight. He didn't want to see all the bodies.
Looking at Ryan, Cassie nodded a little. Though on a normal basis she wouldn't have gone with any guy anywhere, this wasn't a normal basis. They were stuck, on an island. With possibly nothing around but trees and bushes and... more trees. "I guess we're going with you, Ryan."
