Well although not necesarilly that important I think a time stamp system would help break up any confusion that could arise.
Maybe posting somthing in the beginning post saying, So and so days after the crash. That way meeting somone in one thread based three days after the crash but then being in a thread that happens right after the crash and they meet up, but knowing them after the crash and then remeeting them in another thread.
Just an idea.
